The heart behind Just Lovin' Music Studios, Inc
Just Lovin’ Music Studios, Inc. is a nonprofit restoring instrumental music education in schools—so every student has a place to grow, belong, and shine. We partner with schools to deliver consistent, high-quality instruction without adding strain to staff or budgets—helping students build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and pride in their culture.
Music shapes how students learn, connect, and see themselves. It gives children a place to belong, a way to express what they can’t always say, and the confidence to believe, “I can do hard things.” We believe music is not an extra—it’s essential.
Yet many schools have been forced to reduce or eliminate instrumental music programs due to limited resources. When music disappears, students lose more than a class—they lose a proven pathway to confidence, discipline, teamwork, and being seen. And access to arts education should never depend on income, neighborhood, or circumstance.
JLMS exists to remove those barriers. We partner with schools to provide structured, in-school instruction that complements the school day and supports classroom goals—without adding strain to staff or budgets. Through music, students build pride in their culture and we help them turn

We envision a future where every student—regardless of neighborhood or income—has consistent access to excellent music education that strengthens identity, belonging, and lifelong opportunity.
How We Work With Schools
Every JLMS program is customized to fit each school’s day—during the school day or after school. We collaborate closely with administrators and school liaisons to ensure smooth implementation, consistent instruction, and meaningful student outcomes.

Board Leadership
Michelle Love
Founder/CEO
Michelle Love is the Founder and CEO of Just Lovin’ Music Studios, Inc. (JLMS). An elementary educator and musician, she leads JLMS in partnership with schools and communities to expand access to consistent, high-quality music education—helping students grow in skill, confidence, and belonging.
Jimmy Love
Treasurer
Jimmy Love serves as JLMS Treasurer and has faithfully served on the board for 30 years. He is a 34½-year retired City of Los Angeles employee and a steady, trusted supporter of JLMS and the students we serve.
Catrina Smith
Secretary
Catrina Whittington-Smith is JLMS Board Secretary and a lifelong musician with roots in church choir and flute performance, including the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles. A 30-year licensed hairstylist, salon owner, and cosmetology instructor, she brings proven leadership and a heart for student growth.

JLMS Director of Classroom Music Instruction, coordinating curriculum and instruction across multiple sites. She also serves as Director of Strings, Ensembles & Show Choir, leading students toward strong musicianship and confident performance.
